AUDITION NOTICE

THE GOOD BODY

About the play: With THE GOOD BODY, Eve Ensler, author of The Vagina Monologues, turns her unique eye to the rest of the female form. Whether undergoing botox injections or living beneath burqas, women of all cultures and backgrounds feel compelled to change the way they look in order to fit in. THE GOOD BODY merges cross-cultural explorations with Eve’s own personal journey.

Stage Management Team:  Sarah Marie Candee (SM) and Kassidy Mooren (ASM)

Audition Requirements: Actors are asked to submit a contemporary monologue 1.5-2 minutes in length.

Audition Submissions: Submit audition videos Feb. 2-8. Submissions need to be in by Feb. 8 by 7 pm. Preferred format as YouTube or Vimeo link, to director Audrey Lauren Wax and Stage Management team at awax@wisc.edu smcandee@wisc.edu and kmooren@wisc.edu (please send to all addresses).

Callbacks: Feb. 9, 2021 over ZOOM

Rehearsals: Rehearsals will be conducted over the ZOOM platform and they will begin the week of Feb. 15, 2021. We will rehearse from the week of Feb. 15- week of March 15, 2021.

Show Dates: March 19- 26, pre-recorded and edited

Casting Note: All actors cast must enroll in Theatre 360 Performance in Practice. More information will be provided from the director to those who submit auditions.

CASTING NEEDS
The show has flex casting on size. It can be done with a minimum of 4 actors – 14.
The Good Body needs a cast of all ages, shapes, sizes and racial backgrounds.

Helen Gurley Brown– 80 years old. Author and Pioneering Editor of Cosmopolitain Magazine.
Bernice– African American Teenage Camper
Carmen– A Puerto Rican Woman from Brooklyn
Tiffany– 35-year-old model
Dana– 20 something body artist
Carol– 40 something Jewish Woman from Los Angeles
Nina– An Italian woman
Isabella Rossellini– Former Lancome Model
Everywhere– She’s all of us, all women
Eve’s Partner– Male- Brief role, but high impact
Leah – Older, African Masai Woman
Priya– Middle-Aged Indian Woman
Lakshmi– Indian healer
